ISLAMABAD: The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is set to celebrate its 23rd foundation day in Islamabad on Wednesday (today), ARY News reported.
The main ceremony will be held at the convention centre in which, PTI’s founding chairman and Prime Minister Imran Khan will address the participants.
Strict security measures have been taken to avoid any untoward incident and special passes have been issued to the attendants of the ceremony.
On April 17, the PTI had decided to organize the main ceremony of the party’s foundation day in Islamabad.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan would address the foundation day ‘Yaum-e-Tasees’ ceremony that is being held on May 1 (today) at Jinnah Convention Centre Islamabad. In his address, the founding Chairman of PTI and Prime Minister Imran Khan will deliver a historic speech and explain future strategy and targets of PTI,” said a statement issued by the PTI’s central media department on last Tuesday.
The decision to commemorate the party’s foundation day on May 1 was taken at a meeting chaired by PTI’s chief organiser Saifullah Khan Niazi.

The meeting was also attended by the party’s central additional secretary general Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Senator Faisal Javed, Dr Abulhassan and others.
During the meeting, the PTI members also decided that a revised draft of the party’s constitution would be presented for formal approval by the PTI’s National Council.
The PTI was founded by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan in Lahore on April 25, 1996.
